HIPAA Compliance Training

Protecting Privacy. Building Trust. Empowering Interns. The HIPAA Compliance Training Program equips interns and internship mentors with the knowledge and skills needed to responsibly handle Protected Health Information (PHI). Required for all interns and internship mentors who may access patient data, the training covers key HIPAA principles—including the Privacy Rule, Security Rule, and Minimum Necessary Rule—alongside practical guidance on secure data handling, breach reporting, and ethical conduct. Interns and internship mentors complete a training module, scenario reflections, a knowledge quiz, and a confidentiality agreement. Upon successful completion, interns and internship mentors receive a Certificate of Compliance. Oversight is provided by designated mentors and the program Privacy Officer, Dr. Sherry-Ann Brown.
